The Oceans Supercluster, co-funded by the federal government and regional Atlantic enterprises, promises to develop Canada into a global leader in oceans technology with a major centre in Atlantic Canada.
The Oceans Supercluster partnership of industry, post-secondary institutions, and indigenous groups builds on Canada’s strength in the marine-related economy.
Along with European and Asian free trade agreements, the Oceans Supercluster builds on traditional strengths and may be an opportunity to breathe new life into Atlantic Canada’s fishing industry.
Let us hope the spirit of co-operation at the heart of the Oceans Supercluster may encourages Atlantic governments to change their approach to the fishery and economic development generally.
