AIMS President Brian Lee Crowley was again this year a guest panellist at the annual retreat of senior managers of the federal Department of Finance that took place in Cornwall, Ontario in May. Four panellists were set the task of painting a picture for the Finance officials of the main policy challenges facing the country. Crowley focused on five themes. Three of them (relations with the US, demographic change and social programme reform) will be familiar to many AIMS readers. The two others, the regional mismatch between political and economic power, and immigration and the War on Terrorism, represent new material. All of it makes stimulating reading on the policy challenges facing Canada in the next decade. To read the entire text of Crowley’s talk, please click here.
