Halifax – Cerescorp Company is pleased to announce that it has purchased two of the world’s most technologically advanced, super post panamax cranes for the Fairview Cove Container Terminal facility in the Port of Halifax. With this purchase, Cerescorp will own and operate a total of six cranes at the terminal – three, 65-tonne, super post panamax cranes and three, 40-tonne, gantry cranes that will have the capability of handling a throughput in excess of 400,000 containers per annum. The new cranes will be shipped from the Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. facility in Killarney, Ireland. They also complement the Port of Halifax’s 16.8 m (55 ft.) deepwater berthing capability. Delivery is expected by Summer of 2007. Some features of the Liebherr Cranes include: “We are very excited about the added value and service that these new cranes will provide for Cerescorp’s operations in the Port of Halifax,” said Thomas Simmers, Cerescorp’s President and CEO. “Cerescorp plans to constantly move forward in the Port of Halifax to ensure that our customers are always getting superior service, equipment and technology.” “We are extremely pleased with the latest investment by Cerescorp in the Port of Halifax.
