A report from an Atlantic regional think tank has confirmed what many people already knew — Mahone Bay is an expensive place to live.

The Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS) released an interim municipal report card for Nova Scotia last month, providing a comparison of municipal units.

Among its findings, it reports that Mahone Bay has the second highest residential tax burden in the province. The costs of its protective services rank high as well. Operating costs for fire services come in 39th of 55 on a scale going low to high, while the cost of police protection ranks 46th of 55.

Mayor Joe Feeney says the AIMS report confirms the struggle elected officials have been facing. Click here to hear his comments on the report.
