Networking 11:30 – 12:00
Luncheon 12:00 – 1:30
In his first major policy speech in Atlantic Canada since winning the leadership of his party, Stephen Harper, Leader of the Opposition in Ottawa, is coming to Halifax to outline his vision for a prosperous Atlantic Canada within a dynamic federation. Taxation, regional development, health care and economic growth are issues facing all Canadians. Harper will share his views on how all Canadians, including those in Atlantic Canada, can work together to successfully meet these national challenges.
Harper was a founding member of the Reform Party of Canada. He served as the party’s first policy chief and was the principal author of Reform’s 1988 election campaign platform. In his first stint in Ottawa, Harper was a leading spokesperson for issues related to finance and national unity and as Opposition Leader these issues remain central to his vision of a renewed Canada. He was instrumental in developing Reform Party policies advocating fiscal responsibility and tax reform that remain the foundation of the Canadian Alliance’s approach to these matters today.
Come listen to this policy statement by the Leader of the Opposition and hear firsthand his perspective on Atlantic Canada.
