Government provided health care in Canada was originally meant to provide insurance coverage to all Canadians, regardless of their income. Unfortunately, over time the government became the insurer, administrator and manager. As such, all decision making in the system is made by a bureaucrats and politicians who can’t possibly address the local differences in service across the country.

Such co-ops recognize the value of local authority and innovation and allow local health care providers the flexibility they need to serve their communities.
